Everybody knows that Utah has great musical roots. The Tabernacle Choir, the Utah Symphony and many others. But did you know that the Park City High School Bands are on that list too? If you haven’t heard them, you must. The talent is amazing. Seriously, amazing!!!
2 years ago, I hired a Jazz combo from the high school to play at a Christmas party. They blew everyone away. These are serious musicians and they love what they play! Last summer the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club held a party and invited the combo to come and play again. Much to my surprise, the bass player had become a singer…a really, really fine jazz singer!
Meet Brett Howard…Senior at Park City High School and 4 year member of the Park City High School Bands. Brett has already been accepted into 3 prestigious college music programs and will continue his music studies at the university level. His future as an artist is very bright indeed.
Here’s the story. We asked Brett to stop by for a photo shoot this afternoon. He was kind enough to accept our invitation. Our goal was to create some images that spoke to his love of singing. He was a great sport and worked hard while we worked out some really cool looks. Thanks Brett! It’s not easy to look like you’re singing without your fantastic band behind you!
Now you have the chance to hear these great musicians play…and have a great night out too. The Park City High School Bands will be holding their annual fund-raiser this Friday night at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The “Sweetheart Gala” features a catered dinner, auction, dancing and live music provided by the Park City High School Varsity Jazz Ensemble. Tickets are available for only $55/person. Now that’s a great deal…plus you’ll get to hear Brett and many other outstanding musicians perform!

BTW, an big shout out to Band Director Chris Taylor and Assistant Director Bret Hughes. You are incredibly positive influences on these young men and women! Bravo!
